    Flock

    Flock is
described as a social browser. I'm not sure how applicable that
description is because access to social communication sites is only
    part of what Flock does.

In just a few minutes after starting
the program, I was able to link it to some of my Weblog sites:
LiveJournal (Am0), Blogger (Am's rAmbles), and Xanga (WordJames and
Am0) but not Tripod (WordJames) or WordPress (I'm not quite sure what
it's called). Plus I was able to access some RSS feeds. Now I'm editing
this entry on Flock, even though I prefer w.blogger for making
LiveJournal entries because of its superior HTML capabilities.

    Until
discovering Flock, I was using a variety of browsers and other tools to
access or maintain my Weblogs: Firefox, Opera, w.blogger, Am0.us,
WordJames.name, Xanga and Tripod. I would like to be able to access all
of them with a single interface. I've fallen short of that goal with
Flock, but it is a step in the right direction.

    Flock is based
on the Mozilla Gecko machine, just like Firefox, SeaMonkey and Mozilla.
When I signed on to Flock for the first time, it asked me if I wanted
it for my default browser. I declined. Now I'm more tempted to make it
the default. I'm certainly going to give it a workout over the next few
    days.

  • hiya james! hope all is going well with you!

  • After the worst virus I have ever had, I decided to migrate to Firefox. I had a two-week infestation that I had to dismantle piece by piece. I was thinking either Firefox, or Seamonkey - as the Mozilla Suite seems hopelessly out of date now. (I am hoping you are going to jump in here and advise me.) The guys at Spyware Warrior have pushed me in the direction of Thunderbird, too. That really is a secure little package. After this bug though, I am looking for the most secure of everything - antivirus, browser, email, firewall and antispyware. Windows Defender just doesn't cut it, apparently. If there are any thoughts you would like to share with me on this, I'm all ears. I'm thinking Windows-based. The email address is the same.

  • Actually, I forgot something. I am going to stop messing around in admin mode. That is probably the main reason why I got this virulent virus in the first place. So I need to learn a little about privileges. That is something that usb sticks require. I found that out last night. Which should tell you how long it's been since I used user mode. I ask you! Would I use Linux exclusively in Root! I must be a total moron. No! Don't answer that - even if it is true!

  • You don't come around much or perhaps you post privately. Meanwhile, I linked over from Jamesworld. He made glowing remarks in regards to your astuteness. I just wanted to bask. Have a wondeful weekend. Cassi

I rarely post on Xanga any more because, until a few months ago, my options for posting were severely limited. Then Mozilla released their Flock social browser, which allows me to create posts for a variety of Weblog engines. I mostly post on LiveJournal but have been known to post on Vox, WordPress and Blogger. My site at http://www.Am0.us has links to some of the places I post, despite being sadly out of date.

I've known the James of JamesWorld for a long time. People have been known to confuse WordJames with JamesWorld, which prompted me to create an alternate Xanga site, Am0, so I could comment on his site without creating confusion. I read all of his posts (through email) but no longer leave that many comments.
