  • The Universal Cure

Today Delia has been suffering from headaches, bad headaches, the kind that put you in bed all day. She has been taking NSAIDs (Non-Steroid Anti-Inflamitory Drugs, stuff like Advil, Aspirin and Tylenol) and muscle relaxants. And, this evening, The Cure.

Not too long ago, it was my turn with the headaches. I am not allowed NSAIDs, so I just lay quietly in a dark room until the pain passed. And, naturally, they fixed me The Cure.

A few weeks ago we were taking turns catching bad colds and were making the cure so constantly that we kept running out of onions and chicken.

The Cure is homemade chicken soup. We make it with lots of onions. I use ginger and anise in mine. Delia makes hers differently, as does Cathy. Even Derek, when he comes down with something in Boston, makes his own variation on chicken soup.

    It helps a lot.

  • Chicken soup is just the best! Especially from scratch.

BTW, I did get a sublingual and it is B-12/Folic Acid and B-6 Thank you for the advice.

  • My wife always makes chicken soup when we are feeling under the weather.

Our local water is undrinkable, but my wife boils it and seems to be okay - she uses it for coffee mostly every day. If I drink it, I go through terrible mood changes ... almost verging on tiredness, irritability and shortness of temper. (It happened just a few days ago after I had drank just a few pints of tap water.) Whether it is minerals or chemcials, I do not know - but I do know that it didn't affect me the same way a few years ago; it was more moderate. This might indicate a higher level of chemicals in the local water. My wife always says to run the tap for at least five minutes every time before using the water - but it makes no difference to me. (I just cannot use that water anymore - either boiled or otherwise.)

Here is a water quality report from 2002. (In addition, this water tastes bland - like it has many additives contained within it.)

Lastly, if you are using Mozilla ... that is the reason for the quirks within your browser - it has nothing to do with Xanga. (If you remember, I mentioned this just a few days ago.) It is the same problem when using Firefox, too.
